Heaven’s Womb

Heaven’s Womb

The line
between you
and
me
is thinner here,
where you lay.
Heaven
is
almost visible,
very
nearly
touchable,
in this
place.
I think my soul
can
feel yours
here,
the way a
mother
can feel her
baby’s foot
beneath her skin,
as time stretches her
and grows him
to
bring them
into
each other.
Heaven
surrounds me
and embraces my lungs,
when I am here.
I can taste it,
Sweet,
like cake,
fresh air
and perfume.
Our worlds,
both,
exist
here,
nearly together,
divided by
a
papery thin
membrane
that
lets me feel
the imprint
of
your soul,
touching mine.
If I can’t live
there,
where you are,
I want to be here,
where I can feel
your spirit
as close
to me
as you were,
then.
I want to live
where I can reach out
and touch
this place,
and feel you,
through
Heaven’s womb.
