Helping those devastated by the deadly storm
Houston, Texas: West Houston Assistance Ministries has assisted those in crisis for 35 years. When the deadly storms hit Houston just over a week ago, given the enormous need, I took the decision to focus our efforts on disaster relief. The situation remains very serious. As of today, numerous neighborhoods in West Houston are still flooded due to controlled water release from local reservoirs. Across Houston and the Texas coast, there are some 53,630 people displaced from their homes and more than 150,000 properties affected. The scale of the need is unprecedented.
In response, we have identified the following needs which we are presently raising funds for: Rent/Utility Assistance ($700 per family), transportation assistance, including car repairs ($500 per family), gas cards ($50), and bus passes ($10), food and water, store gift cards for small appliances, clothes, cleaning supplies, etc. ($100 per family), and motel accommodation for 1 week ($300 per family). We commit to doing all we can to help as many people as possible to recover from this horrific natural disaster. Of funds donated, 100% will go to helping those affected by the storms. If you are able to help with a donation, either head to https://wham.networkforgood.com or send a check to 10501 Meadowglen Lane, Houston, TX 77042, marked, ‘Disaster Relief’.
Now is the time to help our family, our friends, our neighbors. If you or someone you know is affected by the storm and needs assistance, please encourage them to visit West Houston Assistance Ministries at, 10501 Meadowglen Lane, Houston, TX 77042, or call Adam at 713-993-7422. It would be an honor to help.
