Love. Just love.

There is a lot going on today! Its Ash Wednesday, Valentines Day and later today I conduct the funeral of Tricia Cave‘s amazing grandmother.
As I try and hold all three in importance today, I see a theme: love.
With Ash Wednesday, we are encouraged to wear the sign of the cross on our forehead as a reminder of our mortality, to be reminded of our sin and the need for God’s love in our lives.
With Valentines Day, I celebrate my relationship with my gorgeous wife Christi Brown, recognizing the numerous wonderful ways she impacts my life. I am blessed to be loved by her!
As I conduct Mary Ann Knighten’s funeral later today, together we will remember an amazing woman who deeply loved without question, her family and friends.
May today remind us all that what marks us as Christians is the focus on love. God’s love of us, our love of others, and of promoting love and compassion in our cultural discourse.
As John 13:34-35 states, ‘I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’
