Psalm 119:
33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes, *
and I shall keep it to the end.
34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep your law; *
I shall keep it with all my heart.
35 Make me go in the path of your commandments, *
for that is my desire.
36 Incline my heart to your decrees *
and not to unjust gain.
37 Turn my eyes from watching what is worthless; *
give me life in your ways.
REFLECTION: one of my challenges is to spend more time on the significant and less on the stupid. I daily have to, ‘turn my eyes from watching what is worthless’ and, ‘give my life in your ways.’
To seek after God, read the Bible, pray more and confess and deal with my sin.
So I ask myself often, will this activity takes me towards or away from God? Ultimately I want to spend as much time as possible on developing my relationship with Jesus.
Thank you for your wonderful words. We face all manner of distractions every day that can shift our focus from Jesus. Whether it be social media, television, peer pressure, work, sports… You name it! As you said, will the activity help me to draw closer to God or further from Him? I pray that we focus on what brings hope, love and joy to our lives and those around us. But most of all, draws us nearer to God.
