Alone

The moment of Jesus’ death on the cross was a moment of profound aloneness.

‘And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” ‘ (Matthew 27:45)

He was prepared to be nailed to some wood, endure horrific pain and experience isolation for one reason alone, God’s incredibly generous love of us.

My prayer for you today is that you will feel God’s comforting presence and generous love in this dark, uncertain and dangerous time.
