WHAM Update July 27th, 2020

Greetings in the name of our Lord,

Due to the need, we took the decision today to extend food distribution for the foreseeable future. The plan is to distribute to 150 cars Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This will continue to be reviewed on a weekly basis. Today we served 762 individuals including 277 children.

In the more than 4 months of being on a disaster relief footing we have provided food for 68,504 individuals including 27,034 children. We remain determined and committed to doing all we can to meet the increased need. Also in the past week we distributed $65,068.91 in financial assistance to those affected by the pandemic. God is good!

Thanks to a generous grant, we were able to build an awning off our pantry, which will provide shade for our clients on a hot day. What a blessing!

Have you heard about our 2020 Back to School Drive? It is going on thru August 7, so there are 2 more weeks to make a difference in the lives of children wanting to start their school year well-equipped.  Whether they start studying online from home, and then go back to in-person classes, they will need school supplies, and by providing them, we are helping them on their way to a successful school year.  Thanks to Marcum, LLP for proposing a Corporate Challenge to see what company is the most generous and able to buy the most supply kits and backpacks for these children.  EDG, Inc. followed suit and they are both encouraging their employees to contribute what they can to the drive.  We know there are more generous companies out there that can join. We actually had 730 children register when our projection had been for 620 children, so we need your help more than ever! To support individually or to sign up as a company, go to https://www.whamministries.org/2020-back-to-school-supplies and choose to sponsor supplies, or make a financial contribution to help us with the costs of these supplies.

We had Channel 11 news here this afternoon wanting to speak to a volunteer. I believe the story will be aired tonight at 5pm.

What an incredibly blessing it is to serve God this way!

  1. Glad you’re back and rested! You are right the needs goes on and, in fact, grows. Supplemental government funds are expiring.
